The park will be open to the public from 8:00am until 11:00 pm on the 4th of July. Food Vendor sales begin at noon. Fireworks at 10:00 pm.

Good ol' fashioned music and family fun will be found on the stage all day, from 12:00 (noon) through 9:30pm, located in the Main Plaza.

Main Stage Headliner: Country Star Mark Wills!

Mark Wills first hit the Country Music Scene in 1996.  Since his debut in '96, he has released Seven albums... Of his albums, "Wish You Were Here" is the best-selling, with a platinum certification from the RIAA. This album's title track and the late 2002 release "19 Somethin'" both reached number one on the country music charts. Besides these, six more of his singles have reached Top Ten on the charts: debut single "Jacob's Ladder", "Places I've Never Been", "I Do (Cherish You)", "Don't Laugh at Me", "She's in Love" and a cover version of Brian McKnight's "Back at One".  Mark Wills won the ACM for Top New Male Vocalist in 1998.

Texaco Country Showdown

The 32nd Annual Texaco Country Showdown is America's largest Country music talent show. It's designed to find the most promising country music talent in the nation and to give these performers a chance to launch their professional music careers. 

The Country Showdown begins each spring with over 450 local talent contests sponsored by country music radio stations throughout the US. Winners advance to their respective State competitions held at leading fairs and venues. Acts then compete for a $1,000 prize, the State Title and the opportunity to advance to one of five Regional Finals. It’s the last step before the prestigious, televised National Final. The audience cheers on the Regional Winners, as they compete for the Grand Prize of $100,000 and the title of "Best New Act in Country Music."

Food Vendors

You can bring a picnic to enjoy with your family and friends during the daylong celebration or you can purchase a large array of food and drink from one of the many concessionaires that will be open to serve you from noon to 11:30 pm.

Due to safety precautions, NO charcoal or gas/propane barbecues will be allowed on the grounds. Fireworks start at 10:00 pm.

Thanks to a donation from Zirkle Fruit, Allied Arts coordinates kid’s activities with the Allied Arts Van. They will have all kinds of funs things for children to do.  Look for the Allied Arts van and be sure to stop by and join in the fun! Noon–7:00 p.m.

Sign up at the KXDD Booth to participate in the Main Stage Contests

Parents will need to fill out a waiver for their child to participate. Adults will need to sign up and fill out the waiver as well. Sign up is on a first come first serve basis until the space for contestants is full. You may participate in only one of the contests.

Kid's Contest

Sign up for the 104.1 KXDD Hillbilly Apple Bobbing Contest at the KXDD Booth (12 years and under) – At 2:30p in front of the stage 10 kids 12 years and under will have 2 minutes to eat as much of an apple as possible using only their mouth! The one who eats the most wins! Each participant will get 1 pass to Meadowbrook Family Fun Center and a McDonalds Ice Cream Cone. Top 3 places will win a Splash Monkey T-Shirt and 100 Water balloons,  and the Apple Bob winner will take home the Championship Plaque from Engravings Unlimited. The top 3 competitors will win certificate for water balloons and T-Shirt from Splash Monkey and 1st prize is a $100 certificate to The Capitol Theatre for any of the 2013-2014 Broadway Series Shows. The carnival rides are a big attraction in the days leading up to the 4th of July and on the 4th as well:

Pricing for Carnival rides:

  • $20 Wristbands - Good for all rides during full carnival operating hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday only. The wristband is only good for one day with a different color wrist band sold/used each day.
  • Individual ride tickets $1.25 each (Average 3 – 4 tickets required per ride)
  • Sheet of 20 tickets for $22
  • Family Special - 60 Tickets for $50 is good only on the day of the 4th
  • The Sundola will not be operating this year.

Fireworks

The highlight of the day's events will be a fantastic fireworks display by Entertainment Fireworks at 10:00 pm. Watch the fireworks from the fairgrounds or nearby open areas. Tune your dial in to 107.3 KFFM for the special patriotic music that is set in sync to accompany the fireworks program.

Four on the Floor

Local rock-n-roll band "Four on the Floor" has been playing for 5 years together, and feature cover hits from the 60's, 70's and 80's.  Members include Tony Akin, Dan Stucki, Ray Smith and Angela Soffe. Singer/bassist, Tony Akin, is the owner of Melody Lane Dance Music and Drama Academy as well as the Akin Center Theatre. Keyboardist/guitarist, Angela Soffe, recently debuted her album, "Sand and Rain," on iTunes.  "Four on the Floor" has been featured the past two years at the Yakima Folklife Festival and other local venues.

Zameru has been playing together for 6 years.  We are all worship team members of West Side Church, 6901 Summitview Ave in West Yakima.  Sunday services at 8, 9:30, 11am, and 6pm. We play at various community events throughout the summer, including the Central Washington State Fair.

Rod Giles Band

Giles has shared the bill with greats like Coco Montoya, Alice Stewart, Curtis Salgado, Jimmy Thackery, and others. In 2000 Giles was recruited as the lead guitarists for the Lil Howlin Wolf Band, shortly after finishing his Blues Tracks cd. In 2005 he returned to the Northwest delivering a non stop modern blues rock show. Giles is currently teamed up with Mark Felix on Bass & Vocals and Ty Paulsen on Percusion. Both top notch musicians supporting the newest release SOUL THING.

Giles currently makes his home in the United States. Encouraged by relatives in his childhood who were professional musicians his sound reflects a combination of British Rock, Chicago Blues,and Texas Blues with Jazz inflections. Listening to pioneers such as Robben Ford, Eric Clapton,Stevie Ray Vaughn, Hendrix and numerous others has influenced his sound. Giles' music has been described as an amalgamation of electric blues rock jazz from early to present always drawing from those greats who have influenced him to create something new. Giles' latest release is Soul Thing.

Rod Giles is a professional contemporary blues/rock/jazz fusion guitarist / vocalist performing in the Pacific Northwest for most of the past two decades in all types of venues ranging from small intimate settings to large arenas and outdoor festivals.
